Financing Information Click Here

Looking for Info on a New In-Ground Lift? Or are you just fed up with spending your Company's profit fixing your "High-Pressure In-Ground Lift" that operates with an electric/hydraulic power unit that someone sold you only 8 to 10 years ago? (Sooner or later high pressure hydraulic cylinders begin leaking and need rebuilding or replacement costing about $700.00 each, sometimes even more.

Every high-pressure lift, whether it's mounted on the floor surface or installed underground utilizes an electric/hydraulic power unit that will need repair or replacement. The electric motor can burn out or internal oil pump will wear out and lose the ability to lift heavier vehicles, and if the power unit needs replacement, they can cost another $500.00 or even more depending who you are getting it from.

Furthermore, there are more wearable parts that wear out on a High-Pressure In-Ground Lift as well as a surface mounted lift. The most commonly replaced parts include small safety latch air cylinders, safety latches, latch pins, springs, internal coiled air hoses that crack, leak (or just break), high pressure hydraulic hoses that leak, plunger wear guide bushings that wear out, hydraulic cylinder seals if the cylinders can even be rebuilt... cover plate gaskets and more.

High-Pressure Lifts simply have more parts eventually needing repair or replacement... period.

In either case, it's better to turn back the clock on Technology just a little and rely on

a Tried and True No Nonsense Design.  A GLOBE Low-Pressure In-Ground Lift usually costs  even less than a High Pressure In-Ground Lift!   Additionally, from our experience it's obvious that they give Globe In-Ground Lift Owners two even three times the service life out of the Low-Pressure GLOBE Lift than you will with most High Pressure Lifts.

Globe in-ground lifts can last 20, 30 even 40 years if installed properly.

This not that uncommon for us to see in our line of work... where calls come in from Customers across the Nation, "Owners of Low-Pressure In-Ground Lifts" that sometimes are

Three or Four DECADES OLD!  They're most often looking for a simple seal kit to renew the reliable service that the lift has given them for so many years. Reliable lifts like these used that many years virtually pay for themselves many times over, giving a service life that high pressure lifts can not attain unless the High-Pressure lift Owner spends close to 1/3 the cost of a brand new lift every 10 years or so just keeping the damn thing working.

THINGS THAT GLOBE LOW PRESSURE IN-GROUND LIFTS ARE MISSING...

These Lifts don't need... an underground "cassette container" with multiple high pressure rubber hoses or small high pressure hose fittings that can break, wear out, leak oil or fill the cassette up with smelly toxic waste water you have to pump out occasionally so the internal lift components won't corrode and fail.

These Lifts don't need... little air operated lock-latch air-cylinders that can leak air, corrode, stick open or closed with operating hardware that fails, like clevis pins, cotter pins, air line fittings, toggle air-valves, etc. (Usually when there is a car up on it.)

These Lifts don't need... coiled plastic air hoses for safety latch operation that are sealed in the underground container that can get worn out, pinched and slowly leak air or even blow apart and fail at the worst possible time... basically

"locking" a customers vehicle up in the air until the lift is repaired.

And In-Ground Globe lifts don't need... an electric/hydraulic power unit,

because they're powered by your shop's existing compressed air supply.

(That means, your electric bill should stay about the same.)

Globe Low Pressure In-Ground lifts can last up to 20, 30 or 40 years,

sometimes even longer, depending on the way it was installed and the quality

of the compressed air being used to operate it.

This is information that should not be ignored when it's time to

choose which type of Lift to purchase for your Company.

"Simplicity is always your best bet, if you want to save money and

lower your operating costs....  With only one moving part per

hydraulic cylinder, Low Pressure In-ground lifts are

simply the MOST reliable, cost effective lifts to operate." Smitty

That is why we get calls about low-pressure in-ground lifts that are 30, 40, 50

even 60 years old that are still providing reliable lifting service that may just

need a replacement seal kit to bring it back to top working condition.

If the piston is kept in good condition, the seals should last for many, many years!

Dependability Your Business Can Rely On

"Tried & True Dependability"

Located outdoors no walls even around it.

It actually pays to repair those 50 to 60 year old lifts rather than replacing them with

a shorter lifespan, high-pressure in-ground lift that has almost a half a hundred parts that begin wearing out the moment you start really using it.

Regardless of what any "High Pressure In-Ground Lift Manufacturer" seems to want to admit, in our opinion any brand 'High Pressure In-Ground Lift' will be lucky to make it past 7 to 9 years of service life without some expensive repair work involved. Either one or two new high pressure cylinders, a hydraulic hose or two, perhaps a new electric/hydraulic power unit.

You get the idea... and YOU get the repair bill.

2450 PSI and even higher operating pressures on High Pressure In-Ground (and surface mounted) Lifts mean more stress and wear on the lifting system and it's many parts involved in the operating process.  That is the honest truth, no bullshit about it!

Low-Pressure lifts use the pressure in your Air Compressor Tank...

less stress on the equipment, same service capabilities.

Some lift companies in the last 10-15 years took a huge gamble when they stopped making these tried-and-true low-pressure lift designs, gambling that Consumers will buy their over engineered, expensive to maintain high pressure designs. That's why even now, they continue to claim low-pressure lifts using underground oil tanks are illegal. The reason for this is that they have to push their new 'high-pressure designs' on consumers even though many Lift Repair Technicians agree the old design is the most cost effective, most reliable design in existence to this very day. Remember also, that high-pressure means Manufacturers will be making more parts to sell you for years to come.

Giving another meaning to "HIGH PRESSURE LIFT SALES" because Low-Pressure Lifts

(like those listed below) are becoming increasingly popular again.

The "High-Pressure Lift Sales Pitch" will someday be the only way to get someone

to buy one of the "high-pressure, high-maintenance in-ground" money drains.

Furthermore, if anybody tells you "Low-Pressure In-Ground lifts are against the law because of environmental regulations." You will soon see for yourself, that they really have NO valid argument.  Much of the time people really don't even know what the actual regulations even encompass, but now you can!

Follow this LINK for the Facts & you'll know more than they do about it.

So if you like to have your company's lifts in the ground & out of the way where they belong... and you still have to make a hole in the floor to install one... so you might as well buy a lift that you will not have to replace or repair for

many years to come.  GLOBE Low-Pressure Lifts are the smart way to go!

The difference between "Semi-Hydraulic Lifts" & "Full Hydraulic Lifts"

A FULL HYDRAULIC lift has a separate oil tank and has two valves to operate the lift, an oil-valve and an air-valve.  The oil tank can be under the floor near the hydraulic cylinders or can be mounted on the floor surface next to a wall near the

oil valve or even in another room out of the way and then piped in.

The air is piped through the air valve to the tank, where the pressure pushes

on the oil in the tank moving it through a 1-1/4 pipe to an oil control valve

and then to the hydraulic cylinders to raise the vehicle.

The raising of the vehicle is controlled by manipulating the lever on

the 1-1/4 inch oil control valve after pressurizing the oil tank.

A SEMI-HYDRAULIC Lift has the oil tank integrated with the hydraulic cylinder itself and only has one valve, an air valve to raise and lower it.  There is no 1-1/4 inch oil pipe leading to the cylinder, instead it simply has the 1/2-inch air pipe going to it. The 1/2-inch air pipe that enters the bottom of the hydraulic cylinder goes straight up through the oil inside, almost reaching the top of the cylinder. The air pressure builds inside the cylinder air chamber pushing down on the oil, telescoping the piston from the cylinder and thereby raising the car.  This type of lift is raised and lowered by simply adding air or removing air from the hydraulic oil reservoir in the cylinder. Semi-Hydraulic lifts are always single post lifts and were made by many different companies throughout the years.

GLOBE DRIVE ON RACK

 12,000 Pound Capacity

2-POST "DRIVE-ON" RACK KIT

MODEL DOR-FSDT-28

"Drive On" Style 12,000 Pound Capacity

This lift does not have... an underground cassette-lift container with multiple high pressure rubber hoses or small high pressure fittings that can break, wear out or leak oil. No little air operated lock-latch cylinders that can leak air, stick open and need maintenance. No coiled air hoses that can get pinched and slowly leak air or rip apart and fail at the worst possible time, basically "locking" a vehicle up in the air until you replace the hose so you can get the Customers vehicle down and off your lift and on it's merry way. And of course this great lift doesn't come with an electrically operated hydraulic power unit because it's powered by your shop's compressed air utilizing an oil tank and 2 control valves included with the kit.

Simple, effective, tried and true operation that has proven dependability and can last 2 to 3 times longer than a "cassette style lift that are basically built to last 10 or 12 years" and cost more to maintain and operate.

Low pressure in-ground lifts can last up to 30 or 40 years or even longer

depending on the way it was installed and the quality of the compressed

Low-Pressure Automotive Lifts Have NEVER been outlawed!

That claim was made by a couple major lift companies so people would buy their expensive high-pressure cassette style lifts that will make you broke paying to constantly maintain them after a few years of service unless you're one of the lucky ones that get by longer before having to rebuild one of them.

LINK to EPA Regulations on small underground oil tanks

Quoted from the actual regulations...

Equipment and Machinery that Contain Regulated

Substances for Operational Purposes...

"b. Equipment and Machinery that Contain Regulated Substances for Operational Purposes. Equipment and machinery that contain regulated substances for operational purposes, such as hydraulic lift tanks and electrical equipment, are excluded from today's regulations. These specific tank categories were deferred from regulation in the proposal, and the Agency requested comments on whether, and to what extent, these tanks should be subject to regulation under the UST program. Several commenters responded to this request and gave several reasons why these tanks should not be regulated as USTs. Their comments included three main points: the tanks are self-monitoring; the tanks pose a minimal risk to human health and the environment; and there have been few leaks.

Because these tanks contain regulated substances solely for operational purposes, the commenters argued that the loss of regulated substance would be accompanied by faulty operation of the equipment or machinery and thus the equipment is "self-monitoring." Second, the threat to human health and the environment was judged to be minimal because the tanks contain small amounts of regulated substances.

Also, the commenter said that these devices rarely leak.

Data submitted for leaks from electrical equipment, for example, show a leak incidence much lower than that for other types of tanks

such as those at service stations.

This category of tanks includes hydraulic lifts and electrical equipment. Although commenters did not suggest other specific types of tanks that would fall within this class, EPA believes that other tanks of this type would also be included, provided that the tanks meet two major criteria: the equipment or machinery contains small amounts of regulated substances solely for operational purposes; and a loss of regulated substance is accompanied by faulty operation of the equipment or machinery, such that a loss of fluid causes knowledge of the loss.

In excluding this category of tanks, the Agency agrees with the commenters that these types of tank systems pose a relatively low level of risk compared to other types of storage tanks for the reasons given above. Moreover, the Agency recognizes that these tanks, although within Subtitle I jurisdiction, are not central to the Congressional concerns that created this program. Thus, regulation of these tank systems appears at this time to be unnecessary under section 9003(a).

EPA also believes that this potentially overwhelming large universe would require considerable effort on the part of implementing agencies even for just notification, with very little discernable environmental benefit. For example, the universe of hydraulic lift tanks alone has been estimated at 350,000 to 600,000 lifts. These figures do not include elevator lifts. Regulation of these types of tanks would unnecessarily divert implementing agency resources from other, more serious health threats. Therefore, today's final rule excludes such tanks."
